Just got my Be Street Magazine from the mail. And didn’t regret buying it, actually I’m already ordering one again.. or two.. or a 1-year subscription. The quality of people they feature in the magazine is just on-point. Art, fashion and music, truly lives up to their tag line. And another thing, since this is a French urban magazine it comes in french and english. That’s french and english in every page, side by side, talk about dedication and presentation.
In this issue names like Shepard Fairey, Johnny Cupcakes, Stalley, Rusko, Chad Muska, Timba Smits, The Glitch Mob and more are feature. Great interviews all in all.
“…and then once you become competent, maybe you have it in you to become an artist…or maybe you don’t.”
Videos like this are what pushes me to pursue my passion, do what I want and love.. and not cage myself to society’s and economy’s do’s and don’ts.

Went to Plaza San Luis, Intramuros for TBC Manila last Friday. Great people, art and drinks. haha! You have to drop by that place, so much culture, heritage and nice things, even without the art installations. No photos of the place though, you have to go there to find out.

Solus: An Individual Collective
If you’ve got nothing to do on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, drop by at Solus in Edsa Shangrila Mall Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong. It is an exhibit about finding commonality among individuals through art works.
Do I need to say anything else? It’s like paper having a USB connection. Pretty awesome invention. But first, I need to learn how to draw stuff.. other than brand logos and stick figures.

Street Etiquette, a style blog run by two New Yorkers, Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs makes a video that aims to inspire and explain the role of style, passion and being cool in artists’ and ordinary people’s lives.
Armed with music, rap, lyrics, tap, style and poetic phrases, Mara Hruby, Joekenneth Museau, Theo Martins, Joshua Bennett, Melo-X, Jesse Boykins III and Rinaldy Alvarez, shared their principles and opinions on how they are living their lives and how they want to affect people around them, and as well as be an inspiration to many.
Some of the lines/statements that I liked the most, the lines that are genuine and meaningful for me, are lines from Joshua Bennett and Rinaldy Alvarez.
“Everybody’s smart, but we just don’t value every type of intelligence the same way.” - Joshua Bennett
You may be extremely good in math, economics or the sciences, and the other person is only good in fashion, music or sports, but that doesn’t mean the former is more intelligent. Life… the world, has it’s millions of ways for it’s millions of beings to live. We are just blinded by tradition and society’s norms to see those other countless ways to be intelligent.
“Happiness is not just one thing, it can be found in so many ways. People get stuck and just stay in one path, when there’s like infinite ways to reach your destination.” - Rinaldy Alvarez
There have been so many explanations on what happiness truly is, but I have never heard someone really look into the process of becoming happy and say that happiness can be achieved in numerous ways. Where most will argue that to achieve genuine happiness, you should find your passion and push yourself, your life, in doing this one thing you love the most.
I completely recommend everyone to check out Street Etiquette at least once, just to see how every blog post is done passionately and with great thought put into each idea. To the majority, it may be just about dressing up, but to some who value culture, history, art and style, it is definitely a good blog to follow.

This photo conceptual collection project by Irina Werning caught my attention. Not just that the photos are interesting, the concept itself is amazing. As she explains the project..
“I love old photos. I admit being a nosey photographer. As soon as I step into someone else’s house, I start sniffing for them. Most of us are fascinated by their retro look but to me, it’s imagining how people would feel and look like if they were to reenact them today… A few months ago, I decided to actually do this. So, with my camera, I started inviting people to go back to their future.”

Benn and Dan in 1979 and 2010, London

Ian in 1984 and 2010, London

Lulu and G in 1980 and 2010, Buenos Aires

Matias in 1977 and 2010, Uruguay

Tommy in 1977 and 2010, Buenos Aires
If you look closely at the photos you can see that the backgrounds are really different, but at first look it looks fairly the same. And that’s what I also admire in this project, the work done to make the photos almost perfectly the same as the original ones is awesome. The attire, the shadowing, the effect, the background, facial expressions, and more.. I’m truly amused with this collection. More photos in her website.
