Surf’s Up! (Photo from Vans PH Manila)

You see the face of the man? Amazing right?
If you’re one of the 5 people who follow my blog, you’d know that I was MIA for the whole weekend. I was with the Vans team in Zambales for the Big Z event, surf, skim and skate. The video will be up real soon. Though the surf competition was put in waiting period due to having no waves, the skim and skate competitions pushed thru.
Usually I take a lot of photos, but since I was there to make a video for Vans, I only have these photos for all of you to enjoy. But be sure to watch the video once it’s up, it’ll be wild! From skimboarding, skateboarding and bikinis.
So here are some skimboarding shots I took, actually my favorite ones.

Part of the event also was the beach clean-up. Brought by 4 boats, more than 80 people, with empty sacks each, joined to pick-up trash at the Capones beach (the island in the very first photo) in front of Pundaquit beach.

By the way that’s Mac Ramos, the president of the Zambales Board-riding Association (ZBA) if I remember it right. Great guy! He owns Crystal Beach Resort in Zambales, you should drop by!

Look at that cute… what do you call that again? There was a lot in Capones beach, this one is the smallest we saw. My first love in photography, macro shots on small things.. and living things.

Despite being sick, I still went to Makai: A Summer Kick-off Party at Casa Nami to support my friends’ event and as well as judge it. Remember last week where I ranted about this particular event on how poorly done it is? That group and the group who organized Makai are actually under one subject, so I had the chance to judge them also. Again, I was a VIP, and now I can say I really felt like one, good job guys.

Casa Nami is a surf/beach-inspired club/bar. What’s really cool about it is their consistency with everything inside the bar with their theme. Just like this poster with a surfer riding a huge wave. They’ve actually a lot of this kind of posters and photos around, from surfing facts, beautiful photography, and other dope visual art.

For me to get a photo of the club this empty says that I was really early for the event or the event just didn’t have so much guests. But fortunately there were flocks of people that went in just in time before the event started. It was jam-packed.

Besides having an open bar for the event-goers to enjoy, part of the program is a small DJ competition. Four amateur DJs spun for a designated time limit and was judged by the guests right after all of them finished. I didn’t get a good shot of the first DJ (DJ Gia Fortun) so the ones that I’ll be showing below are the other three DJs only.

DJ CJ Lopez

DJ Jess Milner, my personal favorite among the four DJs. Awesome awesome mix, oh and she’s also a hottie.

DJ Shawn Barootchi
One more awesome thing that night is our mini.. umm.. super-mini-reunion (since we’re only 6 who came). Good to see you guys!

Oops, that watermark wasn’t supposed to be there, the one covering James’ you-know-what. I guess I accidentally clicked it there when I was putting the watermark. Too lazy to re-edit it, sorry. haha!

A series of same angle and camera settings shots that I took to get the changes that the party lights make. I don’t know, I just like these shots so much. Blue, red, green.
